Save the Date!
Results of MEMBERSHIP Meeting and POTLUCK DINNER PARTY
Friday June 27th
1.
Change the hand book language to reflect that spouse teams can serve in board
positions, but will only have one vote per membership as per the handbook.
The handbook
already says a team my share a position, which means still one vote. A change in wording is not
necessary
2.
Rewrite the handbook language to reflect that members not paying dues in the
previous year will not be considered members in the current year.
Members
who have not paid dues by the end of the current season, shall receive a
certified letter of membership cancellation notice due to not paying
dues. They have until the first seasonal board meeting of the
following year to pay dues. If the dues are not paid by this date,
the Board may authorize termination of membership.
Note: This is not a new resolution, only that
the board has not acted on this in a while.
3.
Pro-rate the dues for newly joining members in the year they join.
Pro-rates
dues for newly joined members is determined on a weekly basis. Based on
the current 2014 dues of $400, the weekly rate is $30 a week.
Lap
swimmers may be older kids, who have an adult with them. They should
follow lap swim protocol.
If we get
kids in the pool splashing, the consequence is those kids are not allowed back
for a time

Northview Swim Club (NSC)General Membership Meeting MinutesMay 19th, 2014
Meeting Location: Northview
Swimming Pool
Start Time: 7:00 PM
The meeting started at 7:00 PM with
members paying dues and signing release forms.
Christine McKinnon, NSC Secretary, collected fees, exchanged keys and
collected the release forms. The membership
was called to order for the business portion of the meeting at 7:30 PM by Donna
Glass, NSC President. Two members of the
previous board were present: Donna Glass and Ryan Fox. Prior to this meeting, the board appointed
Christine McKinnon as secretary and transferred Kellie Jenkins from Secretary
to Jr. Pool Manager. There were 16 pool members present.
The minutes from March 28, 2013
were read and approved by the members present.
The NSC 2014 Budget was presented
for the members. It was prepared by Ken
Buxton, who was not present. Questions
were taken; highlights for needs for the upcoming year were heard. Purchasing a new shower building roof and
privacy fencing can wait for a bigger budget.
We need to purchase a new cover roller.
Dues were raised to $400 to cover annual operating costs. Board members also pay dues. Members liked having the higher temperature
in the water (82 F) and agreed to pay the minimal cost to keep the temperature
higher. The pool is old. Only 55 members paid from last year. The motion to accept the budget was seconded
and passed.
Dates to pick up keys and pay dues
were set as: May 24 12PM-2PM, May 31
9AM-1PM, June 7 9AM-1PM. Kellie or
Christine will be on hand to collect.
The late fee was discussed later in the meeting.
The floor was opened for board
nominations. Christine McKinnon will
serve as Secretary, Kellie Jenkins will serve as Jr. Pool Manager. Board positions were defined. Alice Orrel is willing to be Treasurer. George Mellinger is willing to be President
Elect, and Donna Glass is willing to be President. We need to look for an additional Jr. Pool
Manager. The motion to accept the
nominees by verbal vote was seconded and passed.
The elected 2014 board members are:
Donna Glass – President. George
Mellinger – President Elect. Treasurer –
Allice Orrell, Secretary – Christine McKinnon, (Assistant) Pool Manager –
Kellie Jenkins
No water sliding during non
life-guarded hours due to liability issues.
If members would like to create a flier for NSC advertising, please do
and send to Christine McKinnon. Adult
swim hours are defined as 18 years and older.
The pool hours were read. There
was a discussion about allowing younger lap swimmers to swim during lap
hours. There is a need to get the
electronic handbook out to the members. Please
do not move the in-pool stairs when swimming.
It is heavy and expensive.
Handbook adjustments discussions. Four resolutions were included on the meeting
agenda (and are printed in bold).
1. Change hand book language to reflect that husband and wife teams can
serve in board positions, but will only have one vote per membership as per the
handbook.
1). Resolution did not pass – board will write actual
wording for new changes.
2. Rewrite the handbook language to reflect that members not paying
dues in the previous year will not be considered members in the current
year. The current handbook procedure is
cumbersome and ineffective.
2) Discussion was held on the
paperwork nightmare to track down people who don’t pay or renew their
membership. A definition is needed to
decide when non-paying members are no longer members and when their ownership
ceases. Consulting a lawyer is recommend.
Resolution did not pass – need more information.
3. Pro-rate the dues for newly joining members in the year they
join. For example, dues are $300 for a
family that moves into the neighborhood in July, and $200 if they join in
August.
3) A discussion was held on how to
pro-rate membership fees for new members, either by week or day. Resolution was not passed. The board will write up a proposal for the
next meeting.
4. Change late dues payment to a $10 fee instead of the 10% with
interest over time as currently written in the handbook.
4) Resolution passed.
A request was made to redefine the
lap swim time, to allow for younger serious lap swimmers.
A motion to adjourn was
passed.
