Last Potluck of the Season –Don’t Miss it!
The final potluck of the swim season is scheduled for Friday September 3, 2010 at 6:30 pm. A lifeguard will be on duty for those wishing to swim. Bring a main dish and a side or dessert to share. The pool board will provide plates, utensils and water to drink. We hope to see you there!

Gate Must Be Closed and Latched
Members are reminded that the pool gate must be closed and latched at all times unless you are coming in or going out. You may not prop the gate open, even if you are making several trips back and forth to your car. Do not leave the gate unlatched because you are expecting guests or other family members.

Lifeguards are enforcing this rule and you should expect to be reminded of it if you fail to comply.

We must be proactive to prevent drowning, and we are legally compelled to do so by keeping the gate closed. Propping the gate or leaving it unlatched is a violation of federal regulations and one of the other neighborhood pools in Richland was closed down temporarily for this very issue.

The federal code is designed to keep all of us safe. Let's follow this regulation and keep the pool open for everyone to enjoy.

School Lifeguard Hours Begin Tuesday
Lifeguard hours will change beginning Tuesday August 31st. After school starts, lifeguard hours are as follows:

Cold Showers
The bathroom plumbing is in need of repair. There won’t be any hot water in the bathrooms for the remainder of the 2010 swim season and the pool board expects to have it in good working order for next swim season.

The pool is open and lifeguards will be on duty regular summer hours over Labor Day weekend.

Guests Must be Accompanied by a Member

If you take a look at the definitions on the front page of the Membership Handbook, you will see that guest is defined: “GUEST” means a person on the grounds by invitation of and in the company of a member.

Gate Must Be Closed and Latched

Members are reminded that the pool gate must be closed and latched at all times unless you are coming in or going out. You may not prop the gate open even if you are making several trips back and forth to your car. Do not leave the gate unlatched because you are expecting guests or other family members.

Lifeguards are enforcing this rule and you should expect to be reminded of it if you fail to comply.

Propping the gate or leaving it unlatched is a violation of federal regulations and one of the other neighborhood pools in Richland was closed down temporarily for this very issue. I don't know about you, but I do not want to lose swimming privileges until the pool board is able to demonstrate to the Dept. of Health that the membership understands and is willing to follow this rule.

The code is designed to keep all of us safe. Let's follow the regulation and keep the pool open for everyone to enjoy.

Last Potluck of the Season Scheduled
The final potluck of the swim season is scheduled for Friday September 3, 2010 at 6:30 pm. A lifeguard will be on duty for those wishing to swim. Bring a main dish and a side or dessert to share. The pool board will provide plates, utensils and water to drink. We hope to see you there!

Take Advantage of Lifeguard Hours
The swim club provides lifeguard hours every day of the week for the enjoyment of children, teens and families, including over nine hours on Friday and Saturday. Recreational swimmers must leave the pool area during lap swim. Parents and grandparents, please ask your recreational swimmers to leave the pool when lifeguard hours are over.

Lifeguard hours:
10:00AM – 12:00PM (Mon-Sat)
1:00PM – 5:00PM (Every Day)
6:30PM – 9:00PM (Sun-Thurs)
6:30PM – 10:00 PM (Fri-Sat)

Lap Swim Etiquette
Here are a few tips for lap swimmers so that everyone can enjoy the experience:

  • The diving board and slide are off limits during lap-swim. Come during lifeguard hours if you want to use these.
  • Enter the swimming lane at the shallow end.
  • Look for an open lane. Choose a lane that isn't occupied by another swimmer.
  • If all the lanes are full you can wait for a lane to open or ask another swimmer to share a lane.
  • If you decide to share a lane, let the other swimmer know that you want to share. Try to share a lane with someone who swims at about the same pace as you.
  • If you are sharing a lane, be aware of the other swimmer(s). Stop at the nearest end if someone needs to pass you.

Northview Swim Club has two lap swims scheduled each day during the swim season:
12:00 - 1:00 pm
5:00-6:30 pm

Northview Swim Club T-Shirts
If you are interest in purchasing a Northview Swim Club T shirt, please contact Kellie Jenkins at 375-9070. There will be a mock-up posted this week on the chalk board. We need a minimum of ten orders.

Swim Diapers Mandatory for Infants and Young Children
Just a reminder that infants and young children, up to five years of age, must wear swim diapers in the pool. The pool has some of these so if you forget to bring one for your child, please ask the lifeguard. Any fecal material in the pool requires the pool to close for cleaning and disinfection. For your safety, the safety of your child, and the safety of others; please do not permit small children to swim without a swim diaper.
